Open Collective and Fenix

Hello, all! Just wanted to do a quick update.

While we have been working on Fenix (and the semi-stable Cnichi), the community has voiced a request for donations. Since then, we’ve been looking into the best way to set this up. After several considerations (Patreon, Subscribestar, LibrePay, etc.), we decided to settle on OpenCollective! We feel this will be the best choice for an open source project like RebornOS and the other products we are working on (the underlying programs like RUM).

In order to use OpenCollective, we will need a Fiscal Host. We are going with Open Source Collective as our Fiscal Host. In order to do this, we need to increase the star count on our GitLab.

We can accept any open source project, in any language, anywhere in the world. We can also accept open source related meetup groups, conferences, and advocacy, research, and awareness initiatives.

If you are an open source project with at least 100 stars on GitHub and at least two contributors, you will very likely be immediately approved.

If everyone could login (you’ll need to create an account if you don’t already have one) and add a star to the Fenix project, then I’m sure we could easily reach 100!

If anyone has any questions, then feel free to ask either me (DarkZeta) or GeeksLoveDetail on Discord. We will be more than happy to answer your questions!

I also would like to say thank you to all of those that have installed RebornOS, helped me and Rafael with the new installer and Cnichi issues, and anyone who has voiced ideas on what RebornOS can do to set ourselves apart and really do something special. It means a lot to me, and I know the rest of the team and community feel the same way!

With that being said, we hope to get both donations and a functioning Fenix working soon. If you have any suggestions or ideas you would like to add for future development, voice them on Discord!

Thanks, and I hope you have a wonderful weekend,
